María de la luz Matus-Mendoza, PhD language and cultural studies educator, and sociolinguist, is an Associate Professor of Spanish and Director of Modern Languages in the Department of Global Studies and Modern Languages at Drexel University. She works with migration and its effects on society as reflected in Mexican Spanish language variation. She has taught three Global Classroom classes the last two years: two language and one sociology class. Drexel students have worked with their peers at the Unversidad Católica in Chile and Universidad de Matanza in Argentina for five weeks. As part of both classes, students from the Latin American Universities have come to the United States where they have continued working with their Drexel following the term working online.
