Location: Park/Fountain Room
Our three-member panel will present an innovative approach to assessing and researching the development of intercultural awareness in students engaged in COIL courses.  This method was developed as part of a Stevens Initiative Grant awarded to the SUNY Center for Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) that linked multiple campuses at SUNY with institutions in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA Region). Carefully prompted student reflections before, during and after 8 COIL courses were compared and analyzed across intercultural cohorts. In addition to this broader comparative analysis, our model allows teachers to learn how their students reflected on their shared course and whether they achieved their desired learning outcomes, thereby allowing them to enhance their course when it is next offered.
