Developers of online international learning courses can face many challenges. Among the challenges are engaging students of diverse backgrounds while providing practical training and experiences. The experiences that students face in these environments are like the struggles that many managers face in outsourcing work between nations. Many managers must adopt innovative approaches and management styles to address these challenges. For effective project management in these environments, team-based approaches and collaboration are essential. Among the methods being adopted to address these challenges by information technology companies are agile approaches that provide flexible, incremental and iterative approaches towards development. By adopting these approaches in project-based learning, students can not only become more engaged in their coursework, but become empowered while learning practical skills. This session will bring faculty and students together to discuss experiences in running a Global Information Technology course at DePaul University’s School of Computing and Digital Media (CDM).
